Challenge with sharing report with non-pro users

Hello All,

Facing a challenge to share report with my colleagues having non-pro Power BI license.

When they try to access report shared with them in my workspace (using pro license); it is asking them to update their licenses to access report. This is bit unusual since Power BI services don't require any license upgrade to access report as far as I am aware.

I suspect the RLS configured in my report might be asking users to upgrade license. If anyone can shed light on this; will be really helpful.

Thanks in advance & cheers!

Assuming that you are asking about Power BI Service not Report Server

You can not share reports from your workspace with non-pro Power BI users, in other words, they (non-pro) users can not access shared report on another users workspace without pro license.  Its not related to RLS.

If you want to share reports with free licensed users (Office 365) here are couple of options

- Get Premium per capacity  and publish reports there and share, every one with permission can access without pro license

- Get embedded  premium capacity and you can embed reports and share (works similar to premium capacity)

Other option

- Get pro-licenses to all the users who would need to  access reports shared by you in your workspace . you don't need premium capacity for this option

Hello Mr. Ponnusamy,

I shared the report now on a workspace which has premium capacity.
Now, the problem is I can't provide access of this report to desired colleagues.

The "Manage permissions" option for the report is not available.

The report is created by me with Pro license.

Seeking help actively. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Shree
