We couldn't import data from Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online Sales Manager

Hello there. I signed into Power BI with the login I have for CRM, input the URL that was listed on the CRM site to use for other Applications to integrate with it, end of fiscal year, and I receive the following message:

We couldn't import data from Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online Sales Manager

There was an error when processing the data in the dataset.

Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details.

We are based in the United States and we get our CRM account information from Japan. I have reached out to the CRM team in Japan because from what I gather on this e-mail, it is a permissions issue. We have gone back and forth for over a month now on trying to determine who needs to do what. If it is a permissions issue, where does the access need to be granted - CRM, Office 365, or GIMS? When I go to view information in the About section of Power BI, it states that the data is stored in Southeast Asia as well. Everyone that has a CRM account (even the CRM admin) is receiving the same message. I have tested approximately 6 logins - all receive the same error. Please provide any insight!

Thanks!

Hi @schhem,

Do you connect to on-premises Dynamic CRM or Dynamic CRM online from Power BI? If you connect to Dynamic CRM online, please note that this content pack requires Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online 2016 or later, and ensure that you use oAuth2 method to sign in.

Also please use Power BI Desktop to connect to Dynamic CRM online and check if you get any errors. You can use “Get Data->Dynamics 365” option in Power BI Desktop to connect to the data source and make sure you use organizational account to connect to it.

However, if you connect to on-premises Dynamics CRM, the above content pack cannot be used, please use “Get Date->OData feed” option in Power BI Desktop to connect to the data source.

Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
