Reports embedded in Powerpoint stop working after a few hours

When we add the plugin and embed a PowerBI report - it works fine for sometime - we are able to interact with embedded report, filter / refresh data; save and close the pptx; re-open and again do the same kind of interactions. However after few hours (2 - 3) the embedded reports stops working and in the plugin area it displays a message "Its time for an update", To view the Power BI add-in, update, Microsoft Offce to the latest version. Learn mor about Office updates." I verified multiple time, the office installation is up to date - we have Office 365 E3 subscription, the report is in a premium workspace, user has pro license, the edge browser / web view component is also up to date.

Our Power-BI subscription is not restricted to our intranet only so we have had to deploy the PowerPoint Add-in as "Admin Managed" plugin from Office 365 admin console using the XML provided on the Power BI service instead of using the one available from Insert menu.

Anyone faced such an issue?

Even any pointers or ideas to investigate further would be very welcome and appreciated.

I have posted this in the "Issues" board as I could not see anything related to Powerpoint or add-ins. Let me also know if this would get better responses on some other board.

Status: Investigating

Hi  @PrashantC ,

Based on the above information, this issue is complex which may need to collect log files for further troubleshooting. Since community support engineers don't have that access, I would suggest opening a Support Ticket. If you are a Power BI Pro or Fabric licensee, you can create a support ticket for free and a dedicated Microsoft engineer will come to solve the problem for you.
It would be great if you continue to share in this issue to help others with similar problems after you know the root cause or solution.

Thank you Caitlyn for taking time to respond.

While I am a Power BI service admin in my tenant, we are not able to raise tickets. Each time our team needs to reach out to Power Platform admins to do so or need to call in.

Meanwhile I observed that the users were using the link obtained from the share button on the report. I advised them to use to the links from "Export >> Powerpoint >> Embed live data" - this seems to be working even after many hours.

I am hoping this continues to work and is the resolution. If not i will create a ticket with MS.

Update: The above does not work either. For some reason it took a little longer for this to stop working. I have created a ticket and will update once I get a final resolution to it.
