Power BI MAP error when activating controls

Hello.  We are now crossing over to Power Platform.  I have found that when activating the MAP controls, in the standard MAP object, I get an error pop-up telling me that 'Something went wrong'  I can cancel the message and all still works but the error persists if I interact with the map.

I work in the commercial property sector and building visual dashboards is essential to the success of the products and tools we require.  This is a very concerning error and I would like a response as to what is causing it.  I do not believe that this issue should exist on the Microsoft native map visual tool and I must be able to resolve this in order that we can have confidence that Power BI can meet our data visualisation requirements.

I have included the details copied to my clipboard and I have noted that previous queries have stated that such detail is insufficient to resolve enquirer problems.

I do urge the Microsoft issues team to reach out to me as I must resolve this problem.

Kind regards,

Paul Wyatt

Hi @Paul-Wyatt

Microsoft Power Platform includes a lot of products, so you'll need to describe your problem in more detail. In which product are you having this problem when doing what? Can you provide a screenshot or video of the operation?

Hello Community Support Team _ Ailsa Tao

Thank you for your default response after picking up my query.  You are correct when stating that Power platform is vast, thank you so much for highlighting this point to me.  As a develolper, I'm always appreciative of tech support outlining what they assume I had no understanding of.

To your first point regarding what product.  I am having problems with the Desktop installation of Power BI, where I have used the standard MAP visualisation.  I'm sorry it was not clear in the title of my issue where I wrote 'Power BI MAP error when activating controls'.  I did note that this fact is stated oin the copied error report I included in my original post, see Image 1:

To your second point, I will struggle to add any more detail than I've already provided, along with the copied error report, as I am using the MAP visual, and applied the ZOOM controls, although this is irrelavent - it happens without ZOOM controls too.  I also included the file details, generated from copying the details to clipboard which I assumed would put you into the area of investigation.

I can at least meet your last point of supplying an image, which I hope you can access as it is attached to this reply.  Image 2 shows you the initial error message that is constantly generated:

Image 3 is the subsequent window pop-up that results from selecting 'Report this issue'

Image 3: This is the desktop PBI window that pops up when selecting 'Report this issue'.  Using the MS provided link, I am brought to the community support page and yourself.

So, I hope I've given you all you now need but if not, I expect you will ask for further details so I look forward to your response in due course.

@Paul-Wyatt , if you are experiencing difficulty using the Power BI Map Visual, and are seeking help it would be beneficial if you were to share a work-in-progress Power BI Desktop file from any one of the cloud sharing services.  Why is this helpful?   It allows the reader to inspect the state.

The map visual is quite stable and is one of a number of map visuals and a number of custom map

visuals are available.
