Analyze in Excel (app)

"Analyze in Excel" works nicely in the web-version of Excel. In the Excel application we have the following issues:

1. Only measures can by aggregated (i.e. not possible to sum numerical variables without defining measures).

2. The interaction between connected datasets does not work.

Item 2 is a show-stopper for any application with more than one data connection.

Are there any other workarounds than denormalizing the data (one "flat" data source)?

Hi @christianirgens ,

Could some detailed information be provided:
For example, is there a corresponding error message about this error?
Can you provide some screenshots of the problem? Please be careful not to include sensitive information.

Best regards.

Thank you for looking into this.

  1. If you try to drag/drop fields (i.e. not measures) to the "values" area of the pivot table - the following is displayed: The field that you are moving can not be placed in that area of the report
  2. It turns out the second issue is solved when you add a measure to the value area. If you start building the pivot report by adding two row-fields, all elements of the second field are listed on all elements of the first field - even if many of these combinations have no data. This issue is however solved by adding a value field.

The real issue it thus limited to nr 1.
