Y Axis only allowing Measures

I have a very large PBIX file that I've been using for over a year.

When I went to start working on a new visual, I found out I could not replace the Y-axis with any value or field other than a Measure.

I have tested earlier instances of this file and they all have the same issue. This means that all of my current visuals are going to be broken if any changes are made as I won't be able to put the Y-Axis values back in if they are removed or changed. I'm sure it's some sort of glitch or corruption as when I open a new file I do not have that issue with the same dataset. Any ideas on how to remedy this or has anyone else encountered this issue? Thanks.

Thanks @parry2k ! That didn't end up being the issue, but I appreciate the suggestion.

ANSWER:
We had enabled "Discourage Implicit Measures" in Tabular Editor to disable the numbers in the filters pane.
We didn't realize that it would affect the visuals and the change was made several months ago. Keep that in mind for anyone who chooses to use that feature in the future.

@QuantumMatrix Great. Usually, you never turn that off, but when you add a calculation group, this disables implicit measures and that was the reason I asked. It is rare that someone makes that setting.

@QuantumMatrix it could have happened that you added a calculation group in your model, once CG is added, you cannot use implicit measures, you have to create a measure and then use that in the visual.
