Does the "Lakehouses (preview)" connector in Power BI currently support transformations via the Column Tools tab [1]?
When I used that connector, everything in the Column Tools tab seemed to be grayed out:
On the other hand, when I used the SQL endpoint to connect to the same table, I got access to all of the options in the Column Tools tab:
[1] - I'm using the September 2023 release of Power BI Desktop.
When I click "Make changes to this model.", I get this warning:
"A DirectQuery connection is required
To make changes to your model (like renaming columns and adding data from multiple sources), you'll need to switch to a DirectQuery connection. This requires adding a local model to your file and is a permenant change."
This seems to agree with what you are telling me, but are there any plans to allow access to Column Tools when using DirectLake mode?
Hi,
You don't need to change the connector to SQL for that.
If you go into model and you click the button "Make changes to this model" in order to create a local dataset, the column tools become available.
They are not available in live mode, but once you create a local dataset they are.
Kind Regards,
Dennes
