How to pass external input values to query and get the data in powerbi desktop.

Hi,

We have got a different requirement, where we have to filter the data based on the passed values by the end user.

Attached is an image of the requirement. So we want to have 2 open-text field options on the first page which should allow the user to enter the required values. After entering the values, on submit button click we should run the query with the entered values as parameters or filters and get the data and redirect to the next page to start visualizations. The purpose of this requirement is when we share the report with the end users(in powerbi service) they can pass the required values in fields and can filter out the data before loading the entire data.

Is there any way to achieve this? Any suggestion would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Hello @CherryKom. On possible solution to provide inputs to Power BI is using the Power App visual. Maybe this video can help you out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y2jJyH4Eu0

Hey JorgePinho,

Thanks for the suggestion we started looking into PowerApps.

We are using the Oracle database as the data source, can we connect to the same report in PowerApps which is currently connected in the PowerBI desktop? And we want to pass the textbox text given in the PowerApps as parameters into Power Bi query(query editor) and filter the data. Is this possible in any way?

Kindly let us know.

Thankyou.
