How to download PDF files using URL from table visual

Hello Community,

Hope you are all doing wonderful.

I have a report with a table visual. One of the columns is URL data, but I am showing as icon.

Now, I am able to concatinate "&download=1" at the end of URLs to enable opening them in edit mode (word, excel, Power Point).

I do have some PDF files as well, but they do not open in edit mode. The reason why I am opening them in edit mode is to let users save a copy. So, my end goal is to enable download for these files.

I would really appreciate if anyone can suggest a way to download pdf files using url from the table visual.

Thank you in advance

Best,

Sri

Hi @SriKandimalla ,

As far as I concerned, for PDF files, the ability to directly open them in edit mode from a URL is generally not supported due to security and the inherent design of PDF viewers. Most browsers and PDF readers will open PDFs in a view mode by default.

You can also submit an idea for it at   https://ideas.powerbi.com/ideas/   and wait for users with the same needs as you to vote for you to help make it happen as soon as possible.
