Beginner Power BI question on visuals

Hello,

 

i am new to Power BI and i have to produce visual:

1) to show latest news (in last 1 month), no of pets who arrived a an animal rescue shelter and number of pets that were fostered.

 

Is this the correct visual ?

The choice of visualization depends on the message you want to convey.

Graphs only translate your message into geometric forms.

If you want to rank the number of pets by status, a simple bar chart is recommended. Our brains find it easiest to compare sizes when squares are arranged in a row, with each square positioned under the other:

You can also use the donut but it is much more challenging to compare its parts (I don't recommend it)

if you want to show the number and the percentage you can use something like that :

if you want to show the number by status with details by the pet you can use a hierarchical matrix like this:
