- What are the needs this report is solving?
- What are we improving?
- Are we making money or saving money with this?
- What actions is this driving?
- Who will be consuming this report?
- Define the Insights
2. Where does the data Exist - the ET of ETL
- Where does the data exist?
- If data does not exist how do we get it
- Who will own this missing data?
- Define if it needs to be governed
3. Leadership Check
- Seek approval for the design of the report
4. Schema Mapping - Think about how to shape the model - drive for data Star Schema
- What are my fact tables
- What should be dimensions
- How do we have relationships between dimensions and fact tables
- Do we have multiple fact tables
5. Power Query
- Pulling only the columns you need
- Name the columns
- Set the Data Types
- Review if we need incremental refresh
- Dataflows or Desktop
- What is the speed of the data
