using Dynamic (multivalue) RLS with Paginated reports

Hello.

Can Power BI Paginated reports within the Power BI Service support dynamically generated datakeys for RLS?

For instance, I currently have multiple Power BI reports, in the Service, that are filtered using RLS by a dynamically generated datakey the app passes to the report. This datakey is based on UserId_CompanyId, therefore, depending on the user who's logged into the app and that user's specific company access, a specific datakey will be generated then passed to the report to filter via RLS.

(I've seen examples where UserId can be possible passed for RLS, but I need multivalue dynamic datakey support).

Thanks!

Hi, @Anonymous

When applying row-level security to a Power BI paginated report, you need to assign a parameter to the UserID attribute. You may use  UserId as a filter or in a query to the datasource in Power BI Report Builder.

For further information, please refer Implementing row-level security in embedded paginated reports .

Best Regards

Allan

Hi Allan,

Yes. I understand you can assign a parameter to the UserID attribute. However, I need to use a dynamic key that changes based on the combo of user connected and their access to a company (i.e. for User#1 with access to Company ABC, datakey = 1_ABC). In this case, is it possible to pass the datakey 1_ABC to the UserID attribute? (passing in only the UserID (1) into the UserID attribute won't meet my requirement).

The link you provided for further info shows a simple example: color = @userID (color = single value, not a combo datakey)

Thanks!
