Is it now possible to pass url parameters to a report with SSAS live connection? If no, when will this feature come? If yes, how does it work? Is it possible on PowerBI Cloud and on-premises Service?
Solved! Go to Solution.
No, it's not possible. As you know, you can only create a query parameter within Query Editor. And you can never access Query Editor when opening live connection to SSAS. And even you create a parameter first, it's not allowed to select "Connect Live" when getting data from SSAS.
I don't think it will be supported in the future. Let dive it deeper, when you create a .pbix file, it will interally create a temp SSAS Tabular model with some objects pre-defined. If you want to add parameter to make this connection dynamically, it will overwrite entire Tabular model every time you make change in parameter, which is not a good practice and not necessary.
Regards,
Yes it is possible. Check out this Guy in a Cube video for a walthrough on how to do this.
Sorry about that. I thought I included it.
