sorry you dont have access to publish to this work space, please contact the owner for access

Hi,

I have a problem when I try to publish the data from the power bi desktop to power bi services

I get the following error message "sorry you dont have access to publish to this work space, please contact the owner for access"

I work with an admin user, how can I fix this problem?

I tried to create a new workspace but I get the same error message.

Here are some details:

Connection method : import

sql server data base

Thanks for the help

BR,

Alon

Hi @elads,

In order to have permission to publish reports to a workspace, please make sure:

  • You are a member that has been added into this workspace.
  • The privacy needs to be set to "Members can edit Power BI content".
  • Alternatively, you are defined as Admin.

If you are still unable to publish, try either of these:

  • Sign Out and Sign In again from PowerBI Desktop and then try to publish
  • Login in Power BI service, lick Get Data box on the lower left hand side and use “Files->Local file” entry to upload your PBIX file to pull/upload your file.

Hi,

I did some testing
I took the file (pbix) and loaded it from another computer and then publish the data to power bi services, and it was done successfully.

Can this message be related to a server blockage ??

Hi there

I have seen issues where I have gotten the error above, which indicates that there is an issue with the workspace.

Where the actual error is that it could not connect to the workspace.

If you can publish it up again from another computer and it works, I would suggest that it is a server blockage.

Hi,

Can you tell me which ports I'll have to open in firewall?
And which addresses to open the ports ?

Thank you

BR,

Alon

It should be port 80 and 443, unless you are going through a proxy server on your local PC, vs another PC or server that has a direct connection to the internet.

Possibly ask the network admin if you have a proxy and the other server does not?
If so you can then ask them to configure the proxy server to allow you to publish.

Hi there

Can you confirm which version of the App Workspace you are using, V1 or V2?

You would need to either be a member who can edit on V1, or a Contributor or higher on V2
