row level security issue during user removal

Hi,

i created a simple poer bi report and published it with a group and also to the content pack. I had row level security created for regions in the power bi desktop.

I added one user to give access to only one region. it was working fine and user is able to see only that specific data.

After couple of days i had to remove the user from the security list for the regions. and i published the report again. The user is unable to view the report. If i add the user in the security again , user can see the data.

Now i am unable to grant full access to the report. Is there any proper procedure to remove users?

It seems that if you remove the user from the original role, the user will not belong to any role and will not be able to see any data.

You can try to create a new group with no region filter and add the user into it.

Best Regards,

Herbert

Hello,

I have the same issue so I tried to create a role for the user that can see the full report

What DAX formula should we write to have no filter in the RLS ?
When I create a role without writing  anything it doesn't work...

Thanks

@Anonymous If you remove a user only from power bi service then that alone will not let him see all the data again for the report. You will also need to remove the role via power bi desktop file and republish the report. Basically if you want data to be limited then you create role and add users and if you want that user to see all data then you remove the whole role. Just taking user out of the role in power bi service will not let him see all the data.
