restricting page-level access

Dear Colleagues,

I am looking for advice whether there is a way to restric page-level access in PBI reports. All of our reports usually have 3-4 pages. Most of the time there is a 'Summary' page that has charts and graphs to view , counts, average, trends, coparisons etc. based on the aggrgate data. And, there is a 'Detailed' tab for the users to look into a transactional level details. For instance, if we are running any promotions, the users will see the results counts, trends, comparisons in the summary tab, however they would be able to see day level transactions in detail tab. But, not all users are authorized to look at the detailed transactions as it has sensitive customer information although they are encouraged to keep a watch on the summary page.

I already looked into newly revamped RLS feature, but that may not be applicable in this scenario. Also, we don't want to create multiple reports, one with summary page only and other with summary and detail pages. I was wondering whether anyone else came across similar scenario and has any insights to share?

Hi @Rohita,

According to your description, it seems that you want to limit access on report page level, right?

As far as I know, there is no OOTB feature for us to limit user to access report on page level. You can vote on this idea item: Page (Tab) level Security.

To work around the issue temporarily, you can pin "Summary" and "Detailed" pages to different dashboard, then share those two dashboards with specific users. See:

Pin an entire report page, as a live tile, to a Power BI dashboard

Share a dashboard and reports with colleagues and others

Hello @v-qiuyu-msft ,

Could you restrict access to the Report from the Dashboard?

This is, I wanted to use your workaround to restrict a user from accessing several pages from the same report, and access just one. But, if I share this Dashboard with the user, he could use the three dot menu to access the whole report. Could I restrict this in any way?

Thanks!

You can create tab(page) level security by conditional navigation feature coming with May 2020 release of Power BI.

I shared details on this workaround here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/page-tab-level-security-conditional-navigation-power-bi-a%25C5%259F%2...

Great news @mustafaasiroglu .

Thank you sooooo much!
