report not refreshing from schedule refresh

newdate2.jpg

Hi,

I've got on onpremises gateway, i schedule the report to run at 9am everyday.

I've checked the logged it successfully ran at 9am.

But when i go into the report, the data is not refreshed with the latest info in SQL.

I've also tried manually push the 'refresh now' on the dataset.

It works alright with the latest data refreshed.

So i don't know why manually refresh dataset works but not schedule refresh ?

I have problem previously, i don't know if they are connected. The dataset failed to refresh due to incorrect numeric format, i've made the changes in 'Edit Queries'. Please take a look athttps://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Dataset-failed-to-refresh-Unable-to-convert-a-value-to-the-...

Hi there

Yes all the Power BI Servers are set to UTC, so when you using NOW() it is based on UTC time, and if you are in NZ that would mean it would be yesterday for most of the day.

I would suggest offsetting your data with =NOW()+12 which should make it 12 hours later when the dataset refreshes.

Hi there

What happens if you click on the "Reset to Default" button?

I have seen instances where there is a filter that is causing the report to not display data correctly.

Thanks for assisting.

I've just tried and it doesn't work.

Thanks

What happens if you do a CTRL + F5 on the page?

It tried to refresh but nothing really happens.

Still no new data.

I would try and refresh via Power BI desktop

And if that works then make sure that your gateway is looking at the same source.

desktop works. And shouldn't it be looking at the same source already since if i manully click refresh on powerBI service the dataset would be refresh ?

Hi there

If you would like it to refresh you would need to right click on the dataset and then click Refresh Now

By clicking the Refresh button in the Power BI Service that simply refreshes the cache.

Hi Gilbert,

I understand you. And yes the manually updating dataset works.

However, i want it to 'automatically' update the dataset instead of me right clicking the dataset and refresh.

Thanks

Hi there

It should work from the scheduled refresh

I would have a look at the logs in the Power BI Gateway and see when you click refresh what the logs are saying with the dataset refresh.

Hi,

The data refreshed but its yesterday report '25th June', Today's report should be yesterday '26th' instead.

So i'm thinking is it because i have something like =now()-1.

Is it because of 'timing' issue with my region (new zealand) vs 'USA. which is still a day before when the report is schedule to run ?
