remote Desktop to PowerBI Gateway

Hi,

 

I would like to know how can I connect to the Gateway of PowerBI remotely.

Hi @Kooky,

 

Just see from the title of your post, I would tell you the Power BI Gateway acts as a bridge, connecting the on-premises data and the cloud service (Power BI Service). So it can't be used by Power BI Desktop. If you want to connect to a cloud data source like Azure Sql Server, Amazon Redshift, you can connect them directly. Because these cloud services are always there. If you want to connect to the on-premises data sources, I think a LAN or a VPN would help.

@Kooky Can you clarify? Do you want to add datasources, set refresh? All these things can be done on the Power BI Service once you have a gateway deployed on a machine...

Personal -> you only need to schedule refresh

Enterprise -> you can add data sources and schedule refreshes.
