"Share just a report" is not working

Hi,

Referring to the article powerbi-service-share-unshare-dashboard, tried to share a report as mentioned there (given the notes below)... but is not working unless you share the dashboard.
Is there any way to share just report without sharing dashboard? Note I don’t want to do “Publish to Web”, as it can be shared on internet.

We've seen that when you share a dashboard that has tiles that link to reports, those reports are also shared at the same time. But what if you want to share just a report? Simply send the report page URL to your colleagues. As long as they are members of the same distribution group, in the same email domain as you, or have at least one dashboard that links to that same report (the dashboard has tiles that were pinned from that report), they'll be able to open the report.

We have the same issue here. When you send somebody (in your organization) a report that has not been linked to from a shared dashboard, it just flashes the Power BI logo indefinitely.

Then when I created a dashboard, pinned a live tile from the report and shared the dashboard, the end user got in.

This is either a pretty obvious bug, or the documentation is wrong about how sharing a report only works.

@ypradeep23 No, what they describe is kinda of a "hacky" way to appease the request. It does appear that they are going to add this functionality at some point. Essentially, you must share at least one dashboard that contains the report. Then going forward, if you just wanted to email someone the report URL to have them take a look, it would work because they have access to the report already.
