"Request access" dialog when trying to view any dashboard most of the time, but sometimes it works

I've had this problem for several weeks/months now. When I try to view any dashboard, I get the "Request access" dialog (I've tried multiple browsers). Every once in a while, I can actually see the dashboards, though, without having done anything different (that I can tell). How can I finally fix this and view the dashboards I need?

Hi @ulfk,

Are you filling out the dialog and requesting access? It's not a Power BI error - it's letting you know that you don't have the proper permissions, and requests usually go to a group/workspace admin for approval.

If anything, it's people on your end not checking their emails or granting you access. You should take it up with your relevant people.

Thanks for the quick response.

As I mentioned in the post, I DO sometimes have access (to the same exact dashbaord that I can't see a few days later), so it seems unlikely that your hypothesis is the root cause. And yes, I have filled out the dialog and our admin says they have approved me.

To be clear, I can see the overview dashboard with multiple tiles with links to reports, but when I click on any of those I get this error.

You can give people access to dashboads and reports separately - usually for allowing users to see data in aggregate but preventing them from drilling down.

Do you have proper access to both reports and dashboards?

Yes, as I said, the problem is that most of the time I cannot see any reports, then at other times I can see them all.
