"Refresh failed due to gateway configuration issues" - "include on report refresh" is disabled

Hi,

I currently have a desktop model which is connected to a mix of sharepoint files and our data warehouse. I do not yet have a gateway establsised for the datawarehouse tables so I have disabled these tables from being refreshed during a report refresh. Despite this when I try to refresh the report in service I am getting the gateway error. Is this an oversight from the powerbi developers or is there something else I need to disable?

thanks.

hi  @Anonymous

Disable "Include in report refresh" feature is only works in power bi desktop, in power bi service, it does not work. So the table still refresh, therefore, you need a gateway for it to refresh.

so what is the recommendation for a data set you loaded once and no longer there but want to keep that history, the disabling "include on report refresh" works perfect in app, but now my scheduled refreshes fail because still tries to look and have to do manal each day
