"Couldn't load the data for this visual" error for 1 user only

Hi,

I have 1 user (maybe few more) in my company which is receiving the error "Couldn't load the data for this visual" on a published app I made.

the user can see other reports only 1 is failing.

but everybody else can see the report without any issue.

I have no idea what could be the cause for that.

there is no row level security in place.

it's a composite model connected to 2 datasets.

how I can diagnose and solve the issue?

Jerome22 -  Assuming you have checked the RLS. Does the report has multiple visuals and only one visual is not loading?  Or the entire report is not loading?

Please try the below and see if it works.

1) If the entire report is not loading, it might be worth adding the user to the report and dataset permissions (click on the dots and select Manage permissions on the report  & dataset), and check if it resolves the issues.

2) In the Datasource settings, check the data source credentials and see if the option "Report Viewers can only see this data source with their own credentials' is selected. If yes, then turn it off.

I added the user to the dataset , yes, this solved the issue...

but the user had access to this dataset, he can access other reports connected to it.

and can access the application deployed, so he is member of the global group in place in the company.

it's very very strange.

I'll check with the persons in charge of the security to validate all the membership of this user.

ok I found the problem.

I grant access to global groups in the company and , for some reasons, my user is not recognized in them.

so I grant access to my dataset to this user and the  problem was solved.

but don't ask me why... another report connected to the same dataset through the same application (without a composite model) and the user was able to see the data properly!!!

so the same dataset accessed through 2 reports in the same application, 1 working 1 not working until I grant access to the user in trouble...

🙂

Hi @Jerome22

It sounds to me like the user was maybe no added to the global group?

Hi @Jerome22

Could you confirm on the composite model that the underlying Power BI Dataset does not have RLS enabled?

Also could you verify that the users have build permssions on the composite datasets?

no, there is no RLS in place at all.
