Hi everyone,
I wonder if someone can help me I am trying to set up the on-premises data gateway to work with our postgresql database via odbc, the odbc connection is set up and working on the host machine (same as the gateway).
However when I try to configure the odbc connection on powerbi.com I get the following message
Unable to connect: We encountered an error while trying to connect to dsn=powerbi;. Details: "Cannot connect to the mashup data source. See error details for more information."Hide details Activity ID: 7c98ec5d-23df-dcdb-e348-2614ced80dc6 Request ID: f6f03876-b7cf-135f-6f4e-2b05710b3ee1 Cluster URI: https://wabi-north-europe-redirect.analysis.windows.net Status code: 400 Error Code: DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError Time: Mon Sep 26 2016 12:10:38 GMT+0100 (GMT Summer Time) Version: 13.0.1605.561 Underlying error code: -2147467259 Underlying error message: ODBC: ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult: -2147467259 Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourceKind: Odbc Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourcePath: dsn=powerbi Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Reason: DataSource.Error Troubleshoot connection problems
No matter what I try, I can not seem to get it to connect. Has anyone managed to get this working? What am I missing?
Thanks in advance.
Chris
You need to use personal gateway but not on-premises gateway to connect to PostgreSQL. The Enterprise Gateway does not yet support connecting to PostgreSQL. There is an item that can be voted up here: PostgreSql Datasource for Enterprise Gateway
