one report two dashboard keep same filtered in the dashboard

Hi Service Gurus,

I have one repot(Report1) with two locatoins Location A and Location B (published into services).

I have created Dashboard each for location,

Dashbord 1 - Location A

Dashboard2 - Location B

I select slicer to filter the report(Report1) to location A(in PowerBI Service) and pin tiles to Dashboard1(Location A).

it works fine as I drill down to the repot it takes me to the correct location.

Issue is when I do the same for Dashboard2, I change the filter and pin tiles to my Dashbord 2 with location B visual. when I go to Dahboard 1 and click the tiles it does now take me to the report filtered to Location B. Does anyone have comeacross and find a solution to this issue.

@Anonymous I'm pretty sure what you are describing is expected behavior. Your are creating a specific filter context that the dashboard tile respects and shows. But when you click that tile, you will be taken to the report page and it will render whatever the last saved state of your report is. It isn't going to take you into the report with the filter context that you saved in the pinned tile.

To say this another way, the filter context for the tile is saved when you pin the visual. All tiles link back to the live version of the report page and won't pass a filter context into the report as it is a dashboard only context.

Thanks @Seth_C_Bauer!  I've spent some time looking through documentation on dashboard tiles and I feel like the concept of filter context is overlooked.  Your explanation cleared it up.

@Seth_C_Bauer ,

thanks a lot for the explantion.

I though that would be the case passing back the filter from the dashboard tiles.
