on premise gateway Invalid credentials

Hi

I have a Sql Server running ok. I have Windows Domain admin credentials.

I installed the gateway in a VM with windows server 64 bits succesfully.

I have Power bi Pro licence and i am the administrator of the service.

I publish my reports ok. They work very nice.

The gateway appears ON LINE in the service,

i add data origins using windows credentials, even using my credentials (above mentioned) and get OK. Its say that the gateway is on line.

But when i update or refresh the reports from the service i get this error:

Ha habido un error (there is an error)
Credenciales de conexión no válidas. (Invalid credentials)

A client recently had this issue, and it ended up being an SSL certificate issue. The cert did not match the connection string used in the Power BI connection. Another workaround they found while not ideal would be to use a SQL login instead of Windows.

Hi.

I recently read about the SSL Certificate, tha is installed by de Personal Gateway.

I unistall on premis gtw. and installed Personal Gateway.

Didnt work.

It should be working fine. Can you connect from your Gateway server to the SQL server?

Hi GilbertQ

Yes.  the computer where the gateway is installed, has Windows 2012 server 64 bits. I have Sql SSMS and connect to de database without problem.  I make querys and work fine.

In the domain controler is installed the Sql Server.  My windows user has Domain admin credentials.

In the Power Bi Service the gateway appears ON LINE. no errors.  I created the data Origins, to sql server, with windows credentials, get on line. Until here, everything just fine. piece of cake.

Buut when i go to the data set and try to refresh or the automatic schedule try to refres, get the invalid credential error.

I read the troubleshooting docs.

We dont have proxy.

Another says the SSL and must install personal gateway, wich i did, but same result.

So, i have not solve this mistery yet.

Hi there,

If you have a power bi pro licence. I would log a support request and they can find out exactly what is going wrong. As I'm not sure what else could be causing it to fail.

Hi

I found the problem with de invalid credentials error. The plataform where de VM (windows DC and the VM for the on premise gateway) ,  run is Linux. And the IT guy has a linux based proxy  call Zentian.

We disconnect Zentian, and the on premise  gateway run smoothly.

We prove that this linux based software has his issues with the gateway.

So, the IT guy conect a Patch cord from a NIC from the SQL server VM and the Powerbi gateway VM. And from the last  one,  another patch cord  to the router the get the wan.

So, the gateway VM doesnt past trought the Zentian proxy.

Problem solved.

That is great news, glad you found the issue and you got the Gateway working!
