matrix visual with no data after export to excel

Hi guys

I've done a matrix report and now i'm trying to analyse it in excel and doesn't show me any data.

I'm sure there's some kind of explanation....

Can you help me please? It never happened to me....

Thank you all so much

Hi there

Your title says after export to excel.

Have you tried to connect to the dataset via the Excel Plug-In?

Also are there any filters on the page when you export the data?
And finally there might be a setting configured on the report that will possibly allow for no exporting of data, exporting summarised data or exporting all data?

Hey Gilbert

Thanks for your answer.

Yes there are filters on that page, but here's also another visual on the same page and it's working fine, with the same filters.

About the setting, if you go to File, Options and Settings, Options, and then in the Current File option, The Report Settings is where you have a lot of options, one of it, Export Data, i have picked the "Allow end users to export...."

The "funny" thing is that all visuals is working fine, about exporting data, except this one. I did this one again, and the same thing happen. No export data.

Now, about the excel plug-in, can you tell me more how to do it? I would like to learn more how to do it

Hi there

Are you using the Power BI Service, or Power BI Report Server?

And just to confirm there is no filter on the particular visual?

If you are using data in the Power BI Service, here is the link to the Excel Plug-In: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-dashboard-publisher/

Hello again @GilbertQ

Thanks again for trying to help me.

I don't know which power bi service or report server. I have office 365 and i'm a pro user license in pbi.

My reports are published with the publish button in pbi. I hope you know.

Also, yes my page has filters and the same for each visual, but this one, a simple matrix, doesn't export.

I have tried in desktop, going to file, options and settings, options, and current file. Down you have an option, Report Settings. If you choose that, one of the options is Export data. And of course is chosen the option "Allow end users to export both summarized...".
I have also tried in Admin Portal, Tenant Settings, Export and sharing settings, and in Export Data i can see that it is enabled the "Users in the organization can export data from a tile or visualization. This also controls the Analyze in Excel and Power BI Service Live Connect features.".

The weird part is that all visuals are working (export to excel) except this one. I've done it again twice and still not working.

I believe i forgot something or must be doing something wrong but i don't have enough knowledge, even to look for the right answer.

It would be great if you ccan help me or direct me to the right answer, if if it means watching another 20 youtube videos...

Thank you so much for your pacience.

Pedro

Hi there

What happens if you had to delete and re-create the matrix table?

And what if you changed it to a table visual?

Do either of the above work?

Hey @GilbertQ

I've done it already....delete and redo. I haven't change the visual type cose that's the one i need to produce the same result. Let me remind you this is the only matrix visual that is not working...

Hi there

I am not sure why this is not working for this one visual.

My only other suggestion is to make a copy of the PBIX, then delete everything except the matrix visual. Then upload to the Power BI Service and see if that then works?
