help for setting up on premises gateway

Hi , we recently got our premium and working to set up on premises gateway .I am looking for the best approach to set up the gateway. we are in Azure IAAS model with VM's.

1.Is one gateway enough to connect to differnert database VMs Like dev ,test and prod

2.Can we install dateway in a VM which has ports open for dev, test and prod db Vms ?

Yes it hsould work we had test and prod that live on differnt servers on the same gateway. However from a maintaince stand point, we moved to different gateways because the dev team wanted more flexibility on the test gateway as we would oacsionally spin up new intances. While the prd gateway was tighly controlled.
