I have a table in a report which is shared externally, and my client regularly exports the entire table. We now have an issue as the table has grown beyond 30,000 rows which is the limit for exporting to CSV.
In the PBI Service, I get the option to either export this table to csv or to Excel, however the client does not get this option, it automatically goes to csv.
Can anyone confirm for me that this is because they are external users? Is there any way I can give them a choice to export to Excel so the limit is 150,000 rows?
Thanks
Hi @Anonymous,
Please refer to this documentation. How about sharing the App with the external user?
Best Regards,
Dale
Hi Dale,
Thank you for responding.
I did fid that documentation before I posted, however it states that exporting doesn't work at all for users of a dashboards shared externally, which is clearly not the case as my users are able to export, they just don't get to choose which type to export to.
Also, the doc says you need an aggregated field, so I added this in but it still had no effect for the end user (and this doesn't explain why I am able to choose export type but they can't).
Regarding sharing the App, I assume you mean from an App workspace? When I tried this a few months ago I wasn't able to give access to anyone outside of my domain at all, however I just tried again today and it allows me to add the user now, but when she tries to access the app she gets a message saying sorry we can't find that app. I am pretty sure this is purely because she is external to me.
Many thanks
Heather
