I am connecting to a Redshift database. I can connect with my same creds using SQL Workbench and within PowerBI Desktop. But cannot refresh dataset through service. It says creds invalid in the Settings page.
Not sure what is wrong. Is it related to gateway? I am not using any gateway as of now. I don't know if my database is on premises or cloud. Any tips on how to identify.
I also noticed that once I enter my creds in data source settings in pbix file and open the settings page again, I dont see the same length of the hidden password as my password . Does it go back to any default password?

Hi @Anonymous
You would need a gateway to connect to your Redshift database. The only cloud supported databases are Azure and Snowflake, all others would need a gateway.
Here is an example with an Oracle database but the same steps could be followed for Redshift
Manage your data source - Oracle - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
And here is how to install and configure the ODBC connection: Using Azure Analysis Services to connect via an ODBC Source (Redshift) - Reporting/Analytics Made easy with FourMoo and Power BI
Thanks!

Thanks @GilbertQ ! Let me first start with the gateway installation then. Any idea how long that takes approximately? Very new with gateways and stuff.
It will not take long to get it all setup, depending on network bandwidth and server hardware should take roughly 1 hour.
