Workspace

Hi,

Can someone describe me about the new workspace and classic workspace?

Also I want to know if we just publish the report to my workspace and share the report among people and what is the difference between my workspace and app workspace?

Which one is better? Is app workspace allow shared users to do changes in the report?

Hi @cham ,

1. Different between classic app workspace and new app workspace

  • Creating new app workspaces doesn't create Office 365 groups like classic workspaces do. However, you can now use an Office 365 group to give users access to your workspace by assigning it a role.
  • In classic workspaces, you can add only individuals to the members and admin lists. In the new workspaces, you can add multiple AD security groups, distribution lists, or Office 365 groups to these lists to allow for easier user management.
  • You can create an organizational content pack from a classic workspace. You can't create one from the new workspaces.
  • You can consume an organizational content pack from a classic workspace. You can’t consume one from the new workspaces.
  • You can set Viewer/Contributor/Member/Admin in new app workspace, but you can just control only view/can edit in the classic workspace

2. what is the difference between my workspace and app workspace?

  • You can publish App using app workspace
  • You can create dataflow in app workspace
  • You can share entire content in the workspace to others
  • Copy report within new app workspace
  • Allow people to edit the report you shared in app workspace if they have edit premission

3. Which one is better?

It is all depends on you, but we suggest use new app workspace to share content if you want to control premission in detail and want to use app instead of content pack.

4. Is app workspace allow shared users to do changes in the report?

You can allow shared users to do changes in the report if users is Admin/Member/Contributor in the new app workspace or they have can edit premission in the classic app workspace.

Hi @v-lid-msft ,

After we create app for one particular report can we add another report to that app? How can I do that?
