Workspace members (and myself) getting "You do not have permission to view this dashboard" message

We have a Power BI workspace to which I published a report. Before creating a dashboard, workspace members had access to the report. I created a dashboard, pulled the link from the share window and sent it to one of the members - who then got a "you don't have permission" message. I then "shared" it with her just in case that was required, which sent her the automated email, but she still didn't have access. Now, when *I* click the same link that I had previously pulled from the sharing pane, I now get the same error.

Why don't I have access to my own dashboard via the link? If I navigate to it through the workspace dashboards list, it works fine... but a direct link gives the error.

Hi @Anonymous,

Did you copy and send the link from dashboard share pane as shown in below image? If so, this might be the cause for permisssion error.

If you want to directly send the dashboard link to workspace members, please copy the link from browser address.

2.PNG

You can see that there existing something different between these two links.

I understand the work around for this, but it is bad.

I am responsible for sharing data sources, and lots of my colleagues try to share links. Even if they have access, the inability of the Power BI web UI to recognize an authenticated users permission and get them to the right page means that users _which_already_have_Access_ are pushed into a request permissions path.

This seems like a significant bug which reduces the viral growth of Power BI internally.

Really? Alright, thanks, that sounds backwards to me. I did copy it out of the "share" window thinking the address bar one wouldn't work. 😉
