Workspace Permissions vs App Permissions

Hello

I have a question with regards to permissions in a Workspace vs permissions in an App. I have five users who have access to a Workspace, two are Admins and three are members. The three that are members do not need to be in the Workspace as they are not creating dashboards or reports. I then create publish the Workspace as an App and give all five users access to the App. But when I remove the three users from the Workspace permissions list (using Edit this Workspace) since they now have access to the App, they no longer have access to the Workspace SharePoint site, which means they have to added back to the Workspace. I don't understand this concept. What is the point in creating the App when the users can access the Workspace?

My requirement is that the three users should have access to the App and the SharePoint site but not have access to the Workspace. Is this possible?

Thank you in advance.

Yoshi

I believe it is your order of operations.

  1. Unpublish your app
  2. Remove the 3 workspace users you don't want
  3. Publish the app and give permissions in the app

The problem is that the order you were doing it in was removing underlying permissions to reports, dataset, etc. when you removed them from the Workspace.
