I want to know which storage type the Power BI dataflow connector?
for connecting from Power BI to Common Data Model on Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
Import? DirectQuery? or Live?
The storage type of a connector is important,
for use case, security, reload.
When the storage type is Import,
Data on Power BI report is large that include data.
When the storage type is DirectQuery,
Data on Power BI report is small that DO NOT include data.
When the storage type is Live,
Data on Power BI report is also small.
Now, I research the Power BI dataflow.
1. Power BI dataflow import data from the Data Sources to CDM on Azure Data Lake storage gen2.
2. Power BI can connect from Power BI to CDM on Azure Data Lake storage gen2 with Power BI dataflow connector.
So, which storage type of 2?
Import? DirectQuery? or Live?
By default, the data is stored in Power BI internal storage.
If you mount your own ADLSg2 storage and map a dataflow to it then it is saved as a CDM Folder.
See Power BI Dataflows and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 Integration Preview Blog Post for details.
Dataflow storage is Power BI.
Currently we don't support direct query.
When mounting your own ADLS gen2 storage to you tenant and mapping the a dataflow to that storage account, the underlying storage becomes the mapped ADLSg2 storage - as CDM Folder which you will be able to access directly.
