What's next? Set up Gateway and added Data Source but I don't see that data anywhere?

Hi all,

I downloaded and set up a Gateway and then, in PowerBI Online, I added a Data Source pointing to an Excel file saved in Dropbox. I made sure the file sharing settings were such that "anyone" with the link could view/edit.

But now I'm stuck.

I don't see that excel file/data/dataset/whateverthedangterminologyis anywhere in PowerBI and I'm not sure how I access it to build reports off of. Can someone tell me what my next step is after setting up the Gateway and adding a Data Source?

Thanks!

-Sarah

Hi @sarahfelldown

If you have connected to files on Dropbox successfully with Power BI Desktop or Service,

After downloading on-premise gateway and sign in with your Power BI account,

Under this dataset->setting->schedule refresh, select "annonymous" authetication under edit credential.

See more details how to set up schedule refresh from this article

Gateway connection->Data source credentials->configure Scheduled refresh

If you haven't connected to files on Dropbox successfully with Power BI Desktop or Service,

Please read through these articles and have a try:

Data source hosted on Dropbox

Connecting to data source hosted on Dropbox

Excel sheet hoosted in Dropbox

Best Regards
