What exactly is a Power BI Report doing when it initiallly shows "Loading Data"?
e.g I created a sample report that has nothing but a text box. No data connection, nothing.
When I load that report, I get shown the "Loading data" screens for about 5-6 seconds initially. What exactly is it loading and is there a way to reduce that time?
When I connect to a SSAS model, I get the same screen and then the report page where all the components start loading. So it only seems to start connecting to the DB and loading the data on the screen after it has already spent 5-6 seconds showing the "Loading data" screen.

HI @vickyd,
I'd like to complement Greg_Deckler's point of view.
Normally, you can enter to query editor and will see your query tables with their query steps. In fact, displayed query tables records are the preview of these query formula processing results. They weren't really executed and imported source data to the query editor side.
When you click 'apply & save changes', these query steps will be executed and processing in the background and display 'loading data panel' to notice that 'power bi are busy to process your data'. (execute query steps to get data and transform data structure, then loading and convert these result tables to data model tables)
I hope the above can be helpful to your doubts.

Pretty sure that just means it is busy.

Thanks Greg.
I'm curious to know exactly what it is busy with though.
In case it matters, I am referring to a report within Power BI Report Server and the test I did was on a server that is not accessed by anyone else so all of the resources as such are available.
