I'm pretty sure that there is no way to do what you are asking. What you could do is publish the report with a few sample columns selected and maybe a message to users warning them about selecting over x number of columns (whenever the error starts to show).

Power BI Service doesn't support to show a popup to user to change the slicer or filter the data to show result. When you share your reports to other users , these users can only go to slicer or filter data in report . You can put your idea to Ideas Forum , if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.
