View as role in PBI Service - Loss of Functionality in new update

Hi PBI Community,

In the past day or two my team has received the updates to both PBI desktop and Service including the new service navigation pane. Although I think the updates do look good, I already noticed that we just lost some important functionality when it comes to viewing as a role. Previously when you selected a security on a dataset, then chose a role you would be sent to the dataset first (viewing as that role) but could use the current workspace dropdown within the left side navigator to switch to some actual report pages to see the results of the RLS role you selected. With the new navigation you are stuck only within the dataset pages (not even the hidden ones which is where we do a lot of testing around roles).

Is this intended with the newest update?  For me this is a last check on a dataset before I roll out changes and I would prefer not to have to set up more pages in my dataset when the pages I want to check already exist in a live connect.

Hopefully this brings some attention to the change!

Hi @mproy

You are correct in that it no longer works. I would only suggest voting for an idea to be able to see all the reports in the navigation pane at https://ideas.powerbi.com

Dang that is pretty disappointing... seems like a big loss to me in the service for RLS. Thanks for the information!
