Using import function with SQL Server

Hi,

I've created a report in PBI desktop and connected it to SQL server via the import function. I've then published the report onto Power BI service to allow others to view.

The data in SQL Server gets updated every once in a while and I'd like the report on Power BI service to also have the updated data. Is it possible for me to refresh the report in Power BI service to get the latest data? What's the best way to go about this?

Thanks

afk

Hi @bo_afk ,

You could configure schedule refresh for your data:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/refresh-scheduled-refresh

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-gateway-enterprise-manage-sql

Hi @bo_afk ,

Sorry, if you want to keep your data updated, I am afraid you do need to make your computer being switched on.

Re: Using import function with SQL Server

Hi @v-danhe-msft , thanks for your response.

It looks like my computer needs to be switched on during the scheduled refresh in order for it to work. Is there a way for my dataset to refresh without my computer being switched on?
