User can view shared report but cannot view the corresponding shared dashboard

Hello,

There are 2 users in a same domain.  We configured for them all permission and access rights.   Then we shared 4 reports and 1 corresponding dashboard to them.  One user can view everything fine while the other can view all reports correctly but not the dashboard.

He sees 'a cross and See details' on each tile.  When clicking the 'See details' link.  It shows 'Couldn't load the data for this visual.

The point is he can view all reports separately.

Am I overlooking anything?  Any comment is welcome.

Best regards

James

Hi Xiaoxin,

There is no RLS inside.

We have solved the problem by re-pin all tiles to a new dashboard.

Thanks for all replies.

Hi @Anonymous,

It sounds like something wrong with the original report content mappings and they fixed it when you rebuild this sharing content.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear your issue solved.😊

HI @Anonymous,

What type of data source that you used to design your report? If you mean SSAS live mode, you may need to do add additional steps to configure UPN.

Manage your data source - Analysis Services#user-names-with-analysis-services

BTW, have many report content are you used to design your dashboard? if your dashboard contains multiple reports, you need to share all dataset permissions that used in the dashboard to users.

Thanks v-shex-msft,

Yes, it is a SSAS live mode data source.  We have handled the UPN by the "Map user names" function in "Manage gateways" setup throught Power BI services.

The dashboard contains tiles from 5 different reports.  We have granted read permission to the user for the dashboard and all related reports.

Best regards

James

HI @Anonymous,

Sure, I suppose these different report contents are working with different datasets and they may in the different connection modes, right?
If you are work with datasets who mixed with both on-premise and cloud data source, please turn on the option to allow the gateway to manage the cloud data source refresh.

Merge or append on-premises and cloud data sources

Hi Xiaoxin,

Thanks for your reply.

Those reports are working with different datasets but they all comes from the same on-premise base SSAS server.  There is no combination of on-premise and cloud data sources.

Best regards

James

HI @Anonymous,

Any RLS setting enabled on these reports? If you enable these settings in the report, you need to assign RLS roles to users or they will receive similar notices because of no matched role to loading/filter records.(RLS dosage prerequisite, read permission and assign roles; edit permission users will view all of the records)

Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI
