Hi,
I have a Power BI report that connects to Azure SQL database. Since there is no use of on-prem data source, I know that I don't have to use a data gateway but nonetheless I would like to use a personal gateway.
When I publish this report into Power BI service, and try to schedule a refresh for the dataset, I would like to configure it to use an on-prem data gateway (personal mode). I have a personal data gateway up and running.
What I see when I try to setup the Gateway Connection is the following :
Why is the "Use an on-prem data gateway" option disabled? Why can't I setup the personal gateway for refresh?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Azure SQL - is a cloud based data source. It is not on-premise , that's why it the option is grayed out.
You can use "connect direct" option only.
Expand "Data source credential" and enter your Azure SQL credentials.

Thanks for the reply. I thought you could still configure a data gateway for a secures access and data encryption and compressiong as well as any passwords used to connect to data sources.
