Hello community,

If your organization use shared datasets for self service, how do you track the usage of the dataset?

thanks.

If you want to know which reports a dataset is used in, you can directly click on the dataset to see all related reports.

In addition, if you are an administrator, then you can also view the user's activity in powerbi in the audit log.

Hi, @matDutch

If you connect powerbi dataset in powerbi desktop to create a report and publish it to service, you can still use the 'view usage metrics report' function.

Hi Janey,

Correct, but the user would use the dataset only. Can we track the DATASET instead of the report? they would make a live connection to the shared dataset and I would like to know if we can track which user uses a particular shared dataset?
