Usage metrics - are they captured for public (published to web) reports?

I have usage metrics on all my reports except those I publish publicly.

Is something broken or are these just not captured at all?

Have there been any updates on this over the past few years? Hoping that we can get metrics from a publicly published report on the web?

The limitations of Publish to web is that they do not store the usage metrics.
