Hi @shaashn ,

  1. Too large data model may be a reason for your scenario, maybe you can try to cut down you data size and try again.
  2. Please enable large datasets format of workspace. And connect admin to configure the maximum dataset size.
  3. You can update the Power BI desktop to the latest version 2.100.261.0 64-bit (December 2021) then publish again( Download link:https://www.microsoft.com/download/details.aspx?id=58494 )
  4. You can Go to Power BI service, Get Data-> Files to get pbix files, this has the same effect as publish from desktop.
  5. If above methods are not working, please run Fiddler with Decrypt Https traffic enabled and repeat publish steps to reproduce the issue and post the related message for fur discussion

In addition, you can also take a look at following link who faced similar issue:

I'm able to resolve this issue by going to power bi service --> in the workspace that you want to publish, click on +new and upload a file --> click on onedrive - business and select the pbix file you want to upload

Totally have no clue why this would solve the issue...

In case anyone is still having issues with this even with the provided answer...

Try using plugged-in ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi.

I had a large dataset 556mb, that I was able to publish no problems until I ran across this error.  I spent a long time going through the forums looking through the answers.  None of them worked, and none of them addressed a user who was able to publish before and unable to publish later (with the same size dataset).

Once I plugged in to ethernet I was able to publish with no issues.  I even tried expanding the dataset by adding in more historical facts and I was able to publish.  Every time I unplugged and used Wi-Fi I came across the same "unable to write to transportation connect" error.

Hi @shaashn

Please can you check on below points:

Confirm on the dataset size?

Check if you are able to publish dataset to any other workspace possibly My Workspace?

Also check if you are connecting to any VPN which might be blocking the connection?

Trying publishing from different machine-server if it helps.

Try publishing a small size dataset to same workspace too.

HI nitishsh91.. the dataset is around 1.6 GB. this was working perfectly fine till a few hours go. I have tried re-publishing an older version (same size) which was published a day ago ..even that wont work now.

Yes a 400 MB+ dataset is publishing fine. standard company machine ..no change in VPN settings. Zcaler and Global protect.

Issue just started seemingly out of no where
