Unable to update permissions after Pro trial ends

I used the Power BI Pro trial to check out report sharing.  After the Pro trial ended I no longer have access to view or change permissions to the reports although they can still be viewed by others who still have access to Pro.  Can I change the permissions on the reports other than deleting them?  This appears to be a security issue.  It would make sense if I could remove people, but not add them.  It doesn't make sense that others can view my reports when I no longer control the permissions for sharing.

After posting this, I received an email welcoming me to a Power BI Pro 60 day trial.  When I clicked on the link, I had to log in to Power BI as if it were my first time logging in, but my account showed up the same without Pro access.  I have already used the Pro trial and the free extension.  I requested having Pro added as an enterprise license, but that hasn't happened.  If I could pay for Pro access myself, I (and my team) would until an enterprise license is available, but I can't pay for Pro access myself either.

Hi jiwhite,

Free user can't share or edit share permission in power bi service. Please refer to this documentation:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-share-dashboards

In your senario, you should contact your department to purchase Power BI Pro license for your account.

Hi,

All the reports and dataset you have shared with other people won't be accessed once you delete the original reports and dataset. So any data won't be leaked.

As I said above, I have requested a license and it has not been granted and I can’t pay for it myself. I understand that Microsoft is trying to force purchasing a license, but what’s actually happening is that I can’t view or change the permissions and the people who were able to see the reports still can if their Pro trial has not expired. This is a security risk. I should be able to remove access to the reports, or no one else should be able to see them.

Hi jiwhite,

I understand your requirement, but it is not recommended to share important reports with others while you are using pro trial.

As a workaround, you can delete the report in PBI service and republish the report from PBI desktop.

If you think it's not user-friendly, you can submit your idea here:

This reply makes me not want use Microsoft products because it makes me wonder where else my data is leaking in Office 365 even though it’s an enterprise license. It’s a bad business decision by Microsoft. Just because a software service is provided for free doesn’t mean that the company has no responsibility for safeguarding data. This is a bug, not a feature request.

Yes, but that’s not my point. Microsoft says that the reports will not be shared when you don’t have a Pro account. That is false.
