Hello guys, I know that you can't download from PowerBI Service a dataset that has incremental refresh, but I didn't know you can't neither download reports connected to it. Is that a bug or does this has some logic behind I am missing?
Thank you!
@Anonymous
I am unable to reproduce this issue on my side, I can successfully export PBIX file from Power BI Service. Please check whether you have hit the limitations described in this article.
If that will not cover your case I would recommend to open a support ticket.

Hi @Anonymous ,
may be I missed something but a dashboard is only a collection of items like tiles from diffrent reports or videos or pictures. I don't think that you can download this as an pbix file or something :).
Only reports can be downloaded as pbix files.

Kathrin

Hi @KBO
My bad, I am trying to download a report, which I could download before I made the dataset incremental.
I edited the title to make it clear, thank you!
Hi @Anonymous ,
ahhhh ok 😄 I thought I missed something since yesterday in the service.
How do you created the dataset on which the report is based? And what are the technical details about?
May be that is the problem.
Best,
Kathrin

@KBO
The dataset was created months ago in desktop without incremental so I could download from service both the dataset and all the reports linked to it.
This week I configured Incremental in desktop too and once I published in service I can't neither download the dataset or the reports.
I don't know what more info I could give you, sorry.
Thank you!
Hi @Anonymous ,
interesting I test it also in my Service with a dataset/report(with inc. refresh) which I deployed some month ago and this is working.
May be a issue which will self-solved tomorrow? Or do you have the problem since some days ago?
Best,
Kathrin

Hello guys,
I'm upping this topic because I was finally able to put a ticket and I'm not sure it's helping.
Support keeps telling me that reports connected to datasets with incremental refresh enabled can't be downloaded because when a report is downloaded, both the report and the dataset are downloaded. Is this true? I know that without incremental refresh when you download a report pbix it only downloads the report, not the dataset but I don't know if incremental refresh changes that, I doubt it.
I also know you can't donwload datasets with incremental refresh enabled, but shouldn't we be able to download the reports connected to it?
Hi @KBO , I'm sorry to disturb you and probably you won't remember but you told me before that you tried and you were able to download the report connected live to a dataset with incremental, is that right? Maybe I missed something.
I just want to know this to be sure reports can be downloaded so I can tell that to support since they keep telling me that this isn't right... They keep refering me to the documentation which only says you can't download DATASETS, nothing about reports.
Support also shared with me this idea:
https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Custom-Visuals-Ideas/Enable-Download-pbix-file-for-Incremental-Refr...
I guess you can't download reports connected to datasets with incremental refresh then. I think you should consider to put that into the documentation too.
Thank you !!
Thanks @KBO
I just published the dataset with incremental this week and it didn't worked since then. So if I did get it right, you can download your reports linked to an incremental dataset right?
If it's like this, I guess there is something more. That's what I wanted to know, if it was just me or this was the expected behaviour.
Thank you!!
