Unable to create Excel workbook dataflow - Unexpected error

I am currently trying to set up a number of dataflows to Excel workbooks stored on a Sharepoint site (or OneDrive). I have set up a brand new PPU workspace (and have also tried a standard Pro workspace) to store the dataflows in.

On clicking to add the new dataflow and selecting 'Excel workbook' as the option, if I click either the 'Browse OneDrive' or 'Sign In' buttons (to authenticate using my organisational account), the process hangs and after a couple minutes, I receive the following error:

"We encountered an unexpected error.

Session ID: 7fff303a-8cbc-4b9c-90b9-8a8a631cf720
Request ID: 5587c5a6-67df-40da-a3d4-f4979d56c611

Mashup text
section Section1;"

I have tried deleting the workspace and trying again with no luck. I have tried clearing my browser cache with no luck. I did at one point manage to get one of the dataflows set up, but then it was back to the above error on the next one I tried to set up.

I am an admin in the tenant, so that is not the issue.

How can I find out what the issue is?

Hi @aJayMitchell ,

This seems to be a problem with your file path or URL.

When you want to get a link URL from Excel, you will need to first navigate to your OneDrive for Business location using your browser. Right-click on the file you want to use and select Open in Excel. Then In Excel, select File > Info, and then select the Copy path button.

For more details, you can refer to:Use OneDrive for Business links in Power BI Desktop

Hope it helps,
