I have a a Visual Studio Enterprise license, which includes the Power BI Pro benefit. However, to claim the benefit, I need to login to what appears to be Office 365, which means the "Personal account (Created by you)" login option is not an option. I can only use the "Work or school account", which redirects me to our organization's sign-in page. My problem is that the Azure AD for my organization currently does not work, and so our organization's sign-in page does not work either. So until that is fixed, I am stuck.
What I am wondering is, if I claimed the benefit under a mnaud@abc.com.onmicrosoft.com account, would I eventually be able to transfer the benefit to mnaud@abc.com? Or will this create a mess a couple of months down the line?
The documentation on this is quite sparse, and it looks like being confused by how those different Microsoft accounts work puts me in the majority. But it looks as though transferring Microsoft benefits or subscriptions between accounts can lead to horror stories, but I don't know if it applies when transferring from a "onmicrosoft.com" account to a work account.
I'm not sure if I am at the right place to ask this question, but the Microsoft Visual Studio Subscription could not help me, and simply pointed me to the Power BI Support page (https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/support/). So any information would be greatly appreciated!
Hi @mnaud
You should be able to create the onmicrosoft.com tenant and domain.
Then at a later time, you can add in your actual domain.
That is what I did, but please take this advice as my own personal advice, as I do not have a lot of experience with Office 365
