The last refresh attempt failed because of an internal service error.

Hello all. I'm new here so please let me know if I'm in the right section or if this issue has an easy resolution.

One of my datasets that I have been using for weeks now suddendly will not refresh. The Fields do not even show up on the right hand side. This is hamstringing my reports and dashboard that feed off this dataset.

The error I receive: The last refresh attempt failed because of an internal service error.

Then if I try and access it again: Unable to load the model.

The excel file is stored on OneDrive for Business and I can create a new dataset using the same file. Thanks in advance.

Did you change anything in that data source between now and when you built your original data model? There are a lot of things that will break the import to the data model if something changes in the source. Although the fields not showing up is a bit puzzling but it could be some kind of side effect of the refresh failing. Or, maybe something got corrupted up on the service.

Hi. Thanks for the response. No I have changed nothing in the data source. I can even create a new dataset with the original file from OneDrive with no problem. If nothing can be done is it possible to connect the "new" dataset with the reports and dashboard. It's vey disheartening because if it happened once it could happen again and I would rather not have to keep rebuilding the reports and dashboards.

Hi,

We're aware of an issue that is impacting automatic refresh of excel workbooks with power view reports that are stored in OneDrive. We are actively working on a fix. Can you refresh the dataset manually by clicking the "..." under the dataset name, then selecting "refresh"?

Based on our understanding of the issue, this should still work. It should only be automatic refresh that has failed.

Thanks!
