Subscription Linking to Wrong Tab on PC

Hello All,

We have a report with multiple hidden tabs so we can subscribe users to their specific tab without them seeing the others.  However, when the user clicks on "Go To Report" from within the subscription email on their PC, they are taken to the first tab of the report (which is also hidden) rather than the tab to which they are subscribed.  Oddly, if the same user clicks "Go To Report" from their mobile device, they are taken to the correct tab in the Power BI app.

Users are subscribed to their specific tabs, and the subscription snapshots all work fine.  Also, when I click "Go To Report" on PC or Mobile, I am taken to the correct tab - issue only impacts users.

Not sure if this is a glitch or simply a setting I am missing.  Any help would be appreciated!

I am encounteing this exact issue. Has a fix been discovered?

My solution (read my post from 9/2020) was to add subscribers with the issue as members or owners of the M365 group that contains your reports. Let me know if that works for you.

Thank you Paresh!  This did resolve the issue.

We ran into a similar issue and found the resolution was to add users to the M365 Group that contains the report & dataset as members or owners... that's obviously assuming they have a Power BI Pro license and access to the specific report in the first place.

Observations when things were broken:

  • We found that the URL sent by PowerBI subscription had a full for Group GUID like this:
    https://app.powerbi.com/groups/12345678-1a2b-1ab2-123a-123456789abc/reports/12345678-1a2b-1ab2-123a-123456789abc/ReportSectionea5024257444adc69609
  • When the user clicked on the "Go to Report" link in their subscription email... their final URL ended up with an incorrect Group, correct report and incorrect Section:
    https://app.powerbi.com/groups/me/reports/12345678-1a2b-1ab2-123a-123456789abc/ReportSectiond632dd6aaf9c708babbe
  • It appears the PoweBI service not only went looking for the report in wrong place (user's personal workspace?) but also went to the "default" tab of the report; I suppose that's the one the publisher had open in PowerBI Desktop while publishing.
  • When user clicked into the intended tab... their URL still had an incorrect group, correct report ID and correct section ID:
    https://app.powerbi.com/groups/me/reports/12345678-1a2b-1ab2-123a-123456789abc/ReportSectionea5024257444adc69609

So general report access and section navigation was not the issue... the issue was with sharing URLs pointed at specific sections of a given report until we add them as M365 Groups Members. Not sure if it's a bug.
