Sorting of Month Name when Power BI is connected to SSAS

Hi,

We need to apply sorting in power bi reports for month name eg : Jan , Feb , Mar etc

There is MonthWid Column (Integer) which has the sorting order

Power BI is connected to SSAS(Tabular Model)

We have sorted the column month name on basis of month wid in SSAS and it shows correctly in SSAS

But it is not reflecting in POwer BI Reports..Has anyone faced same issue?

Is there something wrong? Any suggestions pls

You have a few options. You can use the RANKX function outlined here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dax/rankx-function-dax

My prefered solution is to create a column with the month number (sometimes I do this in a referenced query to create a separate calendar table) and then do as the others here suggested and and set the month name column to sort by the month number column in the query editor.

Hi,

Sorry I know this issue was resolved a long time ago but I'm not sure why I'm still running into it. Would someone please have any guidance on what I may be doing wrong?  2021-02-07_13h32_47.png

Thank you!

Hi @GuestUser ,

What  the kind of visual you are using with the Month column? Have you tried to change the Sort by dense order or ascen order?

Hi @GuestUser ,

that should work. (Check the order setting of the visual)

Can you post some screenshots?

- SSAS Tabular settings

- Power BI Report sample.

Hi @GuestUser

try to use Sort By Column technique.

see Section "Sort using the Sort by Column button" here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-sort-by-column#sort-using-the-sort-by-column-butto...
